The University of Groningen is pleased to offer the Eric Bleumink Fund, which provides financial support for exceptional candidates pursuing a master’s degree. This scholarship aims to support talented students from a wide range of countries in Africa, Asia, and other regions.

Scholarship Overview

Purpose: The Eric Bleumink Fund supports candidates enrolling in a master’s program (MSc/MA/LL.M.) at the University of Groningen.

Eligible Programmes:

  • All master’s degree programs at the University of Groningen.

Countries of Origin: Candidates from the following countries are eligible: Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Kiribati, Laos, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Tanzania, Togo, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Yemen, Timor-Leste, Sudan (Rep.), Congo (Dem Rep.), South Sudan, Central African Republic, Zambia, Armenia, Bolivia, Cape Verde, Congo (Rep.), Congo, El Salvador, Ghana, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Kosovo, Korea (Dem. Rep.), Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Morocco, Nigeria, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Ukraine.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates for the Eric Bleumink Fund should:

  • Admission: Have received provisional or unconditional admission to a master’s programme before February. Only applicants who meet this criterion will be considered.
  • Academic Performance: Demonstrate excellent academic performance, supported by strong letters of recommendation and high grades during undergraduate studies.
  • Language Proficiency: Meet the English language proficiency requirements of their chosen programme.
  • Availability: Be available for the entire duration of the programme.
  • Health: Be in good health and able to obtain health insurance.
  • Financial Need: Have no other means of financing the study.

The grant is available for either 1-year or 2-year master’s programs. Due to high demand, only a limited number of grants are awarded each year.

Application Process:

  • Application Deadline: It is not possible to actively apply for the Eric Bleumink Fund. Suitable candidates will be nominated based on their admission status.
  • Nomination: The University of Groningen’s Admission Office, in consultation with the Admission Boards of its faculties, will select and nominate candidates. Applicants must have received provisional or unconditional admission before February. To allow sufficient processing time, master’s program applications should be completed by 1 December.
